Do you agree with the quote, if so why?
” Democracy needs well-informed citizens ”
If the “citizens” were “well informed”, they would no longer want democracy.
Before an election you have to know what individual candidates stand for and what the consequences of the election may be.
you have to weigh the risks and benefits against each other.
if citizens are not educated, then they vote for people like Trump or parties like the AfD.
Yes, because in order to be able to form a political opinion and to take part in the active process of a democracy, I need good and reliably researched information.
If there were only state television, there would only be the CDU and maybe the SPD to vote.
Yes, because only in this way can democracy be preserved! Whoever sleeps in a democracy wakes up in a dictatorship!
What are the dangers for democracy if the media in a state could not fulfill their function??
The media are controlled in dictatorships, we know that from German history (Third Reich and GDR). Citizens must be able to inform themselves well in order to be able to recognize anti-democratic structures and efforts.
I need help explaining one of these quotes:
,,Where the citizen has no voice, the walls have ears – Jeannine Luczak.
,Democracy: government of the people by the people for the people.
Why does the media have such great power over democracy? Something like that is totally bad for the citizens, if the media reports something wrong. Can you get around that? and what is the role of the media in democracy ?
Direct democracy is introduced in Austria. The people can have a say in what should be done. After the Second World War, there was never a referendum in Germany as to why that was?
In a direct democracy, a citizen can propose a law and then simply put it to the vote?
For example, as an austrian, i say: the state should pay every citizen 1000 €. this proposal comes to the referendum, everyone says yes and the state has to transfer € 1000 to its citizens. is great or?
when will direct democracy come to germany? the vok wants bge.
What threatens democracy? e.g. Discrimination against women, immigration, etc. and why ?
A democracy is only as strong as the level of information available to the population.
as I deal a bit with the rising non-voters, I would like to know what the author means by this quote in relation to the non-voters. My interpretation would be that simply by not participating in democracy, disenchantment with politics can become disenchantment with democracy, but I simply don’t get any further, or associate dictatorship with the year 1933, when much fewer citizens voted for the democratic parties. But that’s a different topic again.
What do you all mean?
Quote from K. Adenauer: “A democracy cannot survive without democrats.” Who was Adenauer addressing with this sentence? Why did he address the person and what did he want to achieve with it?
Can someone explain this quote to me and what is meant by it?
I think democracy cannot be perfect (in relation to direct democracy) if too large a proportion of the population has not reached a certain level of education. Is this statement true? ?
The attitude of a democrat is an attitude damage.
Can one interpret the quote in such a way that this person rejects democracy? ?
“Democracy is the dictatorship of the stupid.”
The media are barking watchdogs of democracy, and democracy is known to be the best political system because you can abuse it with impunity. How is it meant? Or what does this author want to draw attention to?
